An Act to Amend the Taxpayer Protection Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1 Section 1 of the Taxpayer Protection Act, chapter T-0.5 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2003, is amended by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:

"public consultation" means a two-way exchange of information between the government and the public before decisions are made and is an open and accountable process allowing individuals and groups to participate in the decision-making process of the government. (consultation publique)

2 The Act is amended by adding after section 5 the following:

Public consultation

5.1 For the purposes of this Act, a public consultation shall not constitute consent to implement a new tax.

3 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
