An Act to Amend the Teachers’ Pension Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 Subparagraph 4(1)(b)(ii) of the Teachers’ Pension Act, chapter T-1 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended
(a)  in clause (B.1) of the French version by striking out “congé sans traitement” wherever it appears and substituting “congé non payé”;
(b)  in clause (C) of the French version by striking out “congé sans traitement” wherever it appears and substituting “congé non payé”;
(c)  by adding after clause (C.2) the following:
(C.3) any period of leave without pay granted by the superintendent of a school district, or his or her designate, during which the person served, on or after December 20, 2001, in the reserve force of the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan or any other combat operation prescribed by regulation, if the person resumes active employment as a teacher and elects to pay in respect of that period of leave an amount equal to the amount he or she would have been required to pay had he or she been a contributor during that period but based on the salary authorized to be paid to him or her at the date of election and the contribution rates applicable at that date and if the service is credited on a past service basis,
(d)  in clause (E) of the French version by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”;
(e)  in clause (E.01) of the French version in the portion preceding subclause (I) by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”;
(f)  in clause (E.2) of the French version in the portion preceding subclause (I) by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”.
2 Section 4.1 of the French version of the Act is amended by striking out “congé non rémunéré” and “congés non rémunérés” and substituting “congé non payé” and “congés non payés”, respectively.
3 Section 5 of the French version of the Act is amended
(a)  in subsection (1) by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”;
(b)  in subsection (2) in the portion following paragraph c) by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”.
4 Subsection 27(1) of the Act is amended
(a)  in paragraph a) of the French version by striking out “congé sans traitement” and substituting “congé non payé”;
(b)  by adding after paragraph (e.1) the following:
(e.2)  prescribing other combat operations for the purposes of clause 4(1)(b)(ii)(C.3);
