An Act to Amend the Right to Information Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1 The Right to Information Act, chapter R-10.3 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1978, is amended by adding after section 1 the following:

1.1 The purpose of this Act is to provide a right of access to information under the control of any department to which this Act applies in accordance with the principles that

(a) information should be available to the public, and

(b) necessary exemptions from the right of access should be limited and specific.

2 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
