An Act to Amend the Interpretation Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 Subsection 1(3) of the Interpretation Act, chapter I-13 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed and the following is substituted:
1(3) This Act applies to the interpretation of the following:
(a)  the Revised Statutes, 1973, the Revised Statutes, 2011, and all subsequent revisions deposited with the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly under subsection 5(1) of the Statute Revision Act; and
(b)  all Acts passed at the 1950 session of the Legislature and at all subsequent sessions of the Legislature.
2 Section 2 of the French version of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
2 Toutes les lois sont édictées au nom de Sa Majesté et la formule d’édiction peut être ainsi rédigée : « Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement de l’Assemblée législative du Nouveau-Brunswick, édicte : ».
3 Section 13 of the French version of the Act is amended by striking out “corporation” wherever it appears and substituting “personne morale”.
4 Section 14 of the French version of the Act is amended by striking out “corporation” wherever it appears and substituting “personne morale”.
5 Paragraph 22g) of the French version of the Act is amended by striking out “corporation” wherever it appears and substituting “personne morale”.
6 Section 38 of the French version of the Act is amended
(a)  by repealing the definition « personne » ou « partie » and substituting the following:
« personne » ou « partie » s’entend notamment d’une personne morale, d’une société en nom collectif ou d’une société ainsi que des héritiers, exécuteurs testamentaires, administrateurs successoraux ou autres représentants personnels d’une personne; (person) (party)
(b)  in the definition « Royaume-Uni » et « États-Unis » by striking out “corporation” wherever it appears and substituting “personne morale”.
7 The Act is amended by adding after section 38 the following:
Use of “corporation” and “personne morale
38.1 Unless the context requires otherwise, when construing the French version of an enactment or a regulation,
(a)  the words “corporation”, “corps constitué”, “personne morale” and similar words or expressions shall be read and construed as having the same meaning,
(b)  the words “incorporé”, “personnalisé” and similar words or expressions shall be read and construed as having the same meaning, and
(c)   other parts of speech and grammatical forms of the words and expressions referred to in paragraphs (a) and (b) shall be read and construed as having corresponding meanings.
8 This Act or any provision of it comes into force on a day or days to be fixed by proclamation.
