An Act to Amend the Medical Services Payment Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 Subsection 8(1) of the Medical Services Payment Act, chapter M-7 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended
(a) by adding after paragraph (d) the following:
(d.1) information may be released to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick for the purpose of regulating the quality or standards of professional services provided by medical practitioners who are members of the body, including for the purpose of an investigation,
(b) by repealing paragraph (g.01) and substituting the following:
(g.01) personal information relating to a medical practitioner may be released to
( i) an agent of the provincial authority for the purpose of administering programs for the benefit of medical practitioners under an agreement referred to in subsection 4.1(1), and
( ii) the New Brunswick Medical Society for the purpose of negotiating an agreement referred to in subsection 4.1(1),
(c) in paragraph (h) of the English version by adding “or” at the end of the paragraph;
(d) by repealing paragraph (h.1).
2 Subsection 8.2(1) of the Act is amended by striking out “may reasonably request” and substituting “may reasonably request within the time period specified by the inspector”.
3 Subsection 8.3(2) of the Act is amended by striking out “required under subsection (1)” and substituting “required under subsection (1) within the time period specified by the Minister”.
