An Act to Repeal the Statute of Frauds
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1 The Statute of Frauds, chapter S-14 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed.
TRANSITIONAL PROVISION
2 Despite section 1, a proceeding commenced before the commencement of this Act shall be disposed of as though the Statute of Frauds had not been repealed.
CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS
Land Titles Act
3 Section 17.6 of the Land Titles Act, chapter L-1.1 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1981, is amended by striking out “the Statute of Frauds or.
Landlord and Tenant Act
4 Paragraph 50(1)(b) of the Landlord and Tenant Act, chapter L-1 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by striking out “, notwithstanding any provision of the Statute of Frauds”.
COMMENCEMENT
5 This Act comes into force on October 1, 2014.
