An Act to Amend the Elections Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1                  The Elections Act, chapter E-3 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by adding after subsection 5(1.3) the following:

5(1.31)       The selection committee shall be established not fewer than 90 days before the end of the term of the Chief Electoral Officer.

5(1.32)       If the office of Chief Electoral Officer becomes vacant more than one year before the end of the term of the Chief Electoral Officer, the selection committee shall be established within 30 days after the vacancy occurs.
