An Act to Amend the Referendum Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1 The Referendum Act, chapter 23 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2011, is amended by adding after subsection 3(2) the following:

3(3) A decision of the Executive Council to increase the rate of the Harmonized Sales Tax shall cause the laying of a referendum question before the Legislative Assembly on that topic.
