An Act to Amend the Emergency Measures Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:

1 The Emergency Measures Act, chapter 147 of the Revised Statutes, 2011, is amended by adding after section 17 the following:

Inquiry

17.1( 1) The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall, within 60 days after a state of emergency ends, cause an inquiry to be held into the circumstances that led to the state of emergency being declared and the measures taken for dealing with the emergency.

17.1( 2) A report of an inquiry held under this section shall be laid before the Legislative Assembly within 180 days after the state of emergency ends.
