Cindy Miles was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2024 general election to represent the riding of Hanwell-New Maryland. On November 2, 2024, she was appointed Minister of Social Development and Minister responsible for the Economic and Social Inclusion Corporation.

Ms. Miles graduated St. Thomas University with a major in political science, leading to a career in project management and development. Her decades-long career spans both the public and private sectors, including province-wide consultations on issues impacting New Brunswickers.

For over a decade, Ms. Miles championed children’s rights and advocated for a stronger system of care for youth and families. She has long been interested in leveraging public policy to better support front line services.

During her career in the not-for-profit sector, Ms. Miles advocated that youth, family and communities should always be at the center of decision-making. She is co-creator of the provincial organization Dots NB, which was a direct response to the lack of services for children and youth with complex needs and their families. Ms. Miles also served as Director of Community and Government Partnerships at Partners for Youth Inc., which later merged with Dots NB. Her work with both organizations underscores her belief in the importance of inclusive and collaborative leadership.

Ms. Miles, her husband Rick and their son Jack share their home with friends, family and a few rescue animals.
