Francine Landry is a politician from the Madawaska region in New Brunswick. Born in St. Hilaire, part of the Haut-Madawaska community, she has dedicated her career to promoting economic development, advocating for the rights of the Francophone community, and creating job opportunities in the rural regions of the province.

Elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick for the first time on September 22, 2014, Francine Landry, a member of the Liberal Party of New Brunswick, represents the riding of Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston. Upon being sworn in, she was appointed Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and Minister responsible for La Francophonie.

In June 2016, she was appointed Minister of Economic Development and Minister responsible for Opportunities NB, retaining her role as Minister responsible for La Francophonie. She was also Minister responsible for the Northern Fund and regional minister for northern New Brunswick and served as Acting Minister responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs and Acting Minister responsible for the Northern Fund in 2018. 

During her terms, she has been a member of several legislative committees, including the Standing Committee on Private Bills, the Standing Committee on Estimates and Fiscal Policy, and the Standing Committee on Law Amendments. She also sat on the Select Committee on Public Universities. Ms. Landry was reelected during the 2018 and 2020 provincial elections, confirming her commitment to her community. From 2018 to 2020, she served as Transportation and Infrastructure Critic, before serving as Liberal Caucus Chair and Environment and Climate Change Critic from 2020 to 2022. From 2022 to 2024, she served as Official Opposition Whip and Critic for Education and Early Childhood Development.

Before going into politics, Ms. Landry had a career as a businesswoman in the private sector, where she was involved in the tourism and restaurant industries. She was responsible for the economic component of the 2014 Congrès mondial acadien. In addition, she worked as an assistant director and economic development officer for the Northwest Industrial Commission and chaired several regional and provincial boards, including the Enterprise Network New Brunswick board.

Ms. Landry earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the Université de Moncton. She also holds a certificate in economic development from the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Ms. Landry lives in St. Jacques, in her riding, with her partner Valmont Martin and her dachshund Zenzi. She has a son, Christian, and two grandchildren, Alexandre and Chloé.
