Hon. Keith Chiasson
- Minister of Indigenous Affairs
Keith Chiasson was reelected to a third term as MLA for the Tracadie riding on October 21, 2024. On November 2, 2024, he was appointed Minister of Indigenous Affairs.
Mr. Chiasson holds a degree in political science from the University of Ottawa and has lived in Tracadie with his family for nearly 20 years. Before going into politics, he worked mainly in the social field, including as a coordinator of the États généraux de la jeunesse in the Acadian Peninsula.
From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Chiasson was Executive Assistant to the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, Attorney General, Minister of Service New Brunswick, and Minister of Environment and Local Government.
Mr. Chiasson was first elected to the Legislative Assembly under the Liberal banner in 2018 and reelected in 2020 as the member for Tracadie-Sheila. He served as Local Government and Local Governance Reform Critic, Critic for Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, and Critic for Energy Development. In addition, he was Deputy Opposition House Leader and sat on the following Legislative Assembly committees: the Standing Committee on Economic Policy, the Standing Committee on Social Policy, the Standing Committee on Procedure, Privileges and Legislative Officers, and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
