Ian Lee
Robert Ian Lee was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2024 election as a Progressive Conservative Member for the riding of Fundy-The Isles-Saint John Lorneville. He is the Progressive Conservative critic for Education and Early Childhood Development and sits on two Legislative Committees: Private Bills and Public Accounts.
Prior to his election, he was an educator in both the public and private sectors. He was a middle school and high school teacher (2011-2024) and was also an instructor in the English as a Second Language Department at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus from 1999-2010. Previous to his endeavours in education, he briefly worked for the United Nations as a biological anthropologist for the International Criminal Tribunal against the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and was also recruited to work in Zagreb, Croatia.
He holds three university degrees: B.A, B.Ed. & M.Sc. and was educated in both Canada and England, United Kingdom. Throughout his involvement in education, he sat on several curriculum committees; in particular, digital technology and broad -technology. In 2007, he received a Departmental Award for Teaching Excellence for outstanding contributions to teaching as recognized by the University of New Brunswick, Saint John faculty, staff and students.
He resides in Bonny River, N.B. with his wife and daughters and enjoys the country life. In particular, his walks with his English Labrador Retriever – True, is among his favourite past time. He is a semi-professional musician, is fond of British humour and active within his faith community.
