Being a Page
Pages are non-partisan employees of the Legislative Assembly and provide service to all 49 elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (Members). As one of the few individuals permitted access to the floor of the House during a sitting other than Members themselves, a Page has the role of liaising between people working inside and outside the Chamber.
The Offices of the Legislative Assembly are a non-partisan workforce where respect, support and promotion of the democratic process are an organizational value. Pages may not participate in any activities, including on social media, that are politically partisan or that could give rise to the perception that they could not perform their duties impartially. Pages will be privy to sensitive and privileged information. Accordingly, they must observe the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in their work and will be asked to sign an oath of confidentiality at the outset of the Program. The integrity of the Program depends on Pages who remain scrupulously non-partisan and discreet.
Pages are issued a uniform consisting of a two-piece suit with an extra pair of pants, two white shirts, a New Brunswick tartan tie, a black belt, and a nametag. Successful candidates are responsible for providing their own black socks and shoes.
Pages are responsible for their transportation to and from their shifts at the Legislative Assembly building. Pages are issued an identification badge that allows them parking but take note that parking is limited. Please note that the Legislative Assembly is on multiple Fredericton Transit routes.
